Our Workflow at scoded.com

1. Dezember 2012

We at scoded.com do not have an office and we do not live in the same city. We live hundreds of kilometeres away from each other and are pupils. Working together is difficult but we work as hard as we can to make this product great. Jonas and Lukas are making their graduation soon. We can’t afford to travel every weekend to meet each other and to work together.

New Ideas

We made scoded.com because we needed something like this. We do not want to miss functions that we and our users need. So we are thinking every day about how to make scoded.com better. We have many ideas which are currently in discussion and development. In the future, we want to release folders for private use and to collaborate with other users.

Design

First, I sketch around on paper and when I like something, I open Photoshop. I craft the design and then I send the draft to Jonas and Lukas. We discuss it and I fix some details. After this process, I have to transform the .psd to HTML and less.

Development

Parallel to the design process, Lukas develops this new feature. This is the part where we spend most of our time. Lukas is a perfectionist and loves structured and well commented code. When he finishs something, I integrate the PHP code in my HTML.

Launch

Before every launch, Jonas writes a blog post for our blog. Then Lukas and I prepare the code and upload it to the dev version of scoded.com. After uploading the new code, we test it and if everything works great, we launch.

Git

We love Git. It saves so much time and helps Lukas and me to develop scoded.com. Currently we are rewriting scoded.com because our old code is not tidy and not structured. After something new is finished, we commit and push the new code to our git. Everything works perfect and makes our live easier.
